Bigger Piece of Sky
Winter Activities
Plan Crested Butte ski days, Nordic trail outings, and snowshoe adventures with local resources below. Due to the possibility of heavy snow, 4WD is recommended to access our driveway in winter.
On the snow
- Skiing at Crested Butte Resort (970) 349-2233, 11 Snowmass Road
- Crested Butte Nordic Center (970) 349-1707, 620 2nd Street
- Snowshoeing and Nordic (Cross Country) skiing: Crested Butte Nordic is a non profit Nordic ski area that maintains 55 kilometers of immaculately groomed trails around the Town of Crested Butte, Colorado's Nordic Town. Our home is located on one of the runs offering a unique ski-in ski-out cross country skiing. Crested Butte Nordic offers complete cross country ski and snowshoe rental packages as well as private lessons, clinics, tours and fine yurt dining. The Nordic Center and trail-heads are within walking distance from all of Crested Butte’s restaurants.
- * Winter Trails have Different Uses than Summer Trails- In the Winter, CB's summer trails are covered in snow and access to many of our favorite areas around town changes. Both the Town of Crested Butte and the Crested Butte Land Trust have agreements with CB Nordic for the maintenance of winter trails that compose the "West Side" groomed trail system. They ask that once winter grooming begins, walking and biking ends on these summer trails, which all pass through private property. For the groomed winter trails, trail passes are required, and the cost of these passes supports the maintenance of this amazing community amenity. Thank you for abiding by the posted signs and displaying your trail pass during the use of the CB Nordic groomed winter trails. There are many great places to walk and snowshoe just outside of town on National Forest land, like the Whetstone Vista trail, Slate River drainage, and Gothic Road. The CBGTrails app has a winter layer that clearly outlines winter trail use throughout the valley.
